TECHNOLOGY: THE ECLIPSE & THE SUN

"It's not about what it can do for us,but more of what it can undo." Technology is a product of science, which provides a faster, better and wider solution for our problems and need. It has been playing a significant role in our lifes since ages. Has it become a synonym of life for many of us!
From the morning alarm, till the midnight  chats on whatsapp/facebook, it's trapping us inside it.With our ever increasing demand and greed, technology keeps on modifying and evolving itself.
But has it made the human being's  journey viable  or treacherous?? The further two interviews would like to bring to light the answers for this question.

                                          DECAYING HISTORY
India has the largest Postal Network in the world with over 1, 53,000 Post Offices (as of 2011),of which 88% are in rural areas.Currently working in manipal post office,it's been 30 years since miss Sushma(name changed) joined the Indian postal system. But she seems to lacks a hearty smile now. Comparing the late 80’s and now, there’s been a humongous change in their system according to her.
“Online communication, e-mail and smartphones have done their fair share of injury to Indian postal system". With the rise of e-mail and the decline of letters, mail volume is falling at a drastic rate, and the postal service’s survival isn’t encouraging. What can be done in few minutes, that too without wasting paper, is a much better option than wasting days to get your work accomplished.

When there were no korear offices, every distanced communication was done by the indian post. But now,the transaction has minimised by 55-60%.A decline in the postal system began in 1990 with the arrival of private firms(ex: ATDC).Only 20-30% of work is being done now in comparison to the 90’s.Korear offices promise faster delivery, have a better trained staff, swift mode of transport, and above all an advanced technology backing them up.Acoording to miss Sushma, their normal and speed post delivery time are the same.Rs. 20,000 is the average salary a postman gets per months for working 8-9 hours a day.D.T in delhi and P.N.G in Bangalore are the source of stipend for Indian postal system.

We further continued on with our interview after a 5 minute tea break. "A 30% decline from 1990-95 was the beginning of a catastrophy for them".Korear companies provide their customers  with better packing, free of charge transport, human touch is addressed, and can easily patch up with bulk orders.During the festival of rakshabandhan in manipal last month, the postal services lacked in coping up with the sudden bulk orders they received.Delay in their work is also caused due to lack of supervision and presence of negative mind in their transport facility(air-pickup, rail-pickup, govt. buses).Banking , postal life insurance, transactions and speed post are the department not being handled well due to lack of staff.

To bring the change we would have to be the change, is her golden thought. Staffs should be  trained well to handle technology, responsibility upon everyone,  bigger offices, distribution of work, and a good atmosphere are the only injections that could rescue them from this decay.
So post this session,i was left in a fog of doubt. Is technology just a parasite for us, snatching happiness from those who can't be a part of it ! Or can it also be a blessing is dusguise !

                                                   EVOLVING LIFE

New medical developments and techniques have changed the face of healthcare since decades. At present, our nation might be lacking behind many countries, but there has has been a radical change in medical technology.Every field imaginable in medical field is now equipped with the latest gadgets.Interviewing Mr. Vijay Sen from kasturba medical college,a whole lot of unknown information was i injected up with.
One of the key pillars of transformation is to provide the best healthcare access for a larger segment of population. Implementation of technology is a cost-effective and compelling method to connect clinics in the cities and rural regions “Without technology, accuracy will be drastically hampered”.Technicians form the backbone in medical technology, while doctors serve as the brain. One of the latest invention in the field is ‘gama knife’.This device, using gama rays, helps in operating the patient, without making any incisions in the body. Robotic surgery, also known as da vinci surgerry, is slowly creeping in our medical system. It upholds huge promise for the next generation surgical operations.Reports of microbiology, biochemistry, radiology, etc. can now be rapidly uploaded online.
The scope and advancement for technology in healthcare really is endless.Ultrasound is a major development in the field of gynaecology and obstretics.A continuous momentum should not be checked. A technology shift has cast itself over the field of healthcare, bringing with it a digital transformation in the ways doctors and patients interact. Microscopes can now measures details which could not even be imagined few years back. For innovation to make an impact, collaboration between the stakeholders in the medical technology ecosystem is a key factor. Industry, healthcare, government and insurance providers need to strategise and move in steps for actions to bring about a lasting change

Post-computerisation,blood test and collection system has been simplified. Philips , Samsung , ethicon and Johnson & Johnson are the major companies manufacturing machcines to hospitals and clinics . But as every coin has 2 sides, so does this. With everything depending upon technology, patient-doctor relation is fading out. Machines still lack in detecting the minor rhythmic beat(lub-dub) of heart. And even are source of radiation in some cases. But eventually, they are just few mere drops in this vast ocean.
Software programs enable population statistics to be tracked and can help with diagnosis. In addition, new billing methods and tracking procedures make it easier to identify a patient's past teatments Overall, this reduces the amount of paperwork, and increases the rate of successful treatments. But despite all of these new developments, it is still depends on the physician to ensure quality healthcare. When it comes to treatment, all of the best tools in the world can only help if the doctor is skilled enough to perform a certain procedure.

Hooh... finally this day ended. Spending about 4 hours to get the best 2 interviews in line( an interview taken at a restaurant and a mobile repairing shop were not eligible enough to put to display), a feeling of satisfaction rushed within. Technology surely has affected many lifes in here, which we never really pay attention to. To many it has been a ride to heaven, whereas to others, it's a doorway to hell .
